What causes global warming ?
Green house gases are the main causes of global warming, a main green house gas is carbon. This is a gas that captures the Earth's heat in our atmosphere leaving it circulating and warming our planet. A lot of things produce carbon, humans are an example. Humans produce carbon just by breathing, the air we take in gets transformed into carbon dioxide which we then breath out, this contributes to the 0.3% in the atmosphere and this process is called respiration.
Another example of a carbon producing contributor is fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are remains of animals or plants that have been compacted over many years because of anaerobic decomposition and then form gas, petroleum or coal, which all contain large amounts of carbon. We then remove these products from the Earth which releases an amount of methane which is a green house gas and use them to create such things as energy to light up the computer screen you are reading from or to fuel our cars or to keep machines in factories going. In order to get the coal into energy however we have to burn it, which creates carbon and obviously a bigger problem.
